Derek Mercer, the nephew of ATS foundere Delores Kesler, acquired the company and will serveas chair. Kesler will retainn the title of chairman Amy McGeorge will assume the role of president and CEO. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. “Thi is an exciting time in the growt h and evolutionof ATS, and I’m pleased to allow the next generationj of leadership to take the helm,” said Kesler. Both companies have filed for Chapte 11bankruptcy protection, and both have notifie d dealers in Colorado -- at leasft 12 for Chrysler; at least 13 for GM -- that they will lose thei franchises to sell new cars. "As we work our way througb the aftermath of both the Chrysler andGM bankruptcies, I am committed to trying to cushion the blow to the parties caught in the aftermatuh of the bankruptcy filings, and I am in the processs of working on measures to help dealerships who are losingh franchises as part of the bankruptcy agreements transition and develop news business models," Perlmutter, said in a statement late Monday.
Perlmuttef is a member of the Housew FinancialServices Committee. "My thoughts are with thesre businesses, their employees and the families as they work througjh thesedifficult times," Perlmutter said.
